Given Singapore’s attractive surroundings within short bus, boat or flight distance, international students here tend to spend most or their weekends away from the city itself. However, it often features some quite original and pleasant experiences.
Here are two singular ones that September enabled me to experiment:
Classics in The Park – 06/09/09:
Performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra at the outdoor stage of the city’s Botanic Gardens (the only specimen of rainforest urban park in the world), this venue was for Anu and myself our first opportunity for listening to a classical music concert in such lovely settings.
The intriguing atmosphere of the surrounding forest proved to be a perfect background for the performance, and fortunately the uncertain cloudy sky refrained from dropping any rain on the hundreds of people – including ourselves – who were enjoying this special moment with a pic-nic!
Singapore F1 Night Race – 27/09/09
A few weeks later took place another highlight of September in Singapore, the world famous Formula 1 GP by night (2nd edition). The powerful roars of the engines reverberating against the buildings are already enough to feel the thrill of the race in the whole city, but the event happening at night makes things even more enjoyable!
Pictures coming tonite.. [edit: actually I wasn't able to get in the rooftop I was planning to take pictures from because wearing flip-flaps and board-short, so we had to stick to the sound only lol]

Almost got deaf while climbing in that tree to catch a glance of the track..

Et merci qui for inviting you for the concert in the park?
Hum, okay I owe you but still, if i hadn’t harassed you for moving your a** down to the Gardens, you would have missed it lol..
Almost got deaf? Almost fell off that tree more like? J’avais super peur! Espece de singe!
